Can You Play Bethpage Black on WGT by TopGolf? Here’s How

Bethpage Black on WGT is a beast. The famous warning sign on the first tee is there. The rough is appropriately punishing. The fairways are narrow. The greens are firm.

I played Bethpage Black on WGT and shot 82 from the tips with firm conditions. That is a good score for me on this course. I genuinely do not know if I could break 85 on a second try. The course is that hard, and WGT’s version does not soften it.

How Bethpage Plays on WGT

The elevation changes are what make Bethpage Black distinctive. WGT’s engine handles them well enough that the uphill holes play longer and the downhill holes play shorter. The 1st hole at 478 yards uphill plays more like 500. The 4th hole from the elevated tee plays shorter than the card says.

The rough is the other defining feature. Bethpage Black’s rough is famous for being ankle-deep and punishing. On WGT, the rough affects club selection and shot shape. A ball in the thick stuff comes out lower and shorter. The lie matters. You cannot just blast a wedge from the rough and expect spin.

The greens are firm and fast. Bethpage Black’s greens are not the most complex in the WGT library — Pinehurst No. 2 has more challenging surfaces — but they are fast enough that downhill putts run past and approach shots from below the hole leave long birdie attempts.

The Best Holes

The 1st: The warning sign greets you before you hit. The uphill tee shot into a narrow fairway sets the tone for the entire round. WGT’s version captures the intimidation.

The 4th: The 571-yard par 5 from an elevated tee. The wind is a major factor. WGT’s wind model makes this hole play differently every time.

The 10th: The 508-yard par 4 that is the longest on the course. Uphill, narrow, demanding. On WGT, this hole is a pure ball-striking test. If you can par this hole consistently, you are a better golfer than most people with WGT subscriptions.

The 15th: Water left, green sloping back to front. WGT’s version handles the green slope correctly — the approach shot needs to land below the hole.

How It Compares

GSPro’s community version is more detailed in the bunker shaping and green contours. The Crazy Canuck version is excellent. But WGT’s version is licensed, which means the course data is official. The routing is correct. The hazards are in the right places. The famous warning sign is on the first tee.

For a $10/month platform, WGT’s Bethpage Black is more than adequate. It is hard, it is accurate, and it will humble you.

The Bottom Line

Bethpage Black on WGT is one of the most challenging sim experiences available on any budget platform. The course beats you up, the rough punishes bad shots, and the greens demand precision. If you want to test your game without spending $30,000 on a Trackman, WGT’s Bethpage Black will tell you everything you need to know.
