Can You Play Bandon Dunes on WGT by TopGolf? Here’s How

Bandon Dunes on WGT is the original course only. The rest of the resort — Pacific Dunes, Bandon Trails, Old Macdonald, the Preserve — is not in the WGT library. If you want the full resort experience, you need Trackman, GSPro, or TGC 2019.

But the original course is excellent. The 4th hole along the cliff edge is one of the best sim golf experiences available on any budget platform. The ocean views are there. The fescue rough is punishing. The wind off the Pacific coast translates well.

What Makes WGT’s Bandon Work

The fescue rough is the defining feature of Bandon Dunes. On WGT, the rough affects ball flight the way it should — the ball sits down, the club twists slightly, and the resulting shot is unpredictable. Most sim platforms treat rough as a uniform penalty where the ball always comes out the same way. WGT’s version has enough variability that you never feel confident playing from the long stuff.

The wind model matters at Bandon more than almost any other course in the WGT library. The Oregon coast is exposed. The wind is constant. On WGT, the 4th hole plays differently based on wind direction. The 7th hole requires a different club depending on the breeze. The course does not play the same way twice.

The firm conditions are baked into the WGT version. Bandon Dunes plays firm and fast. The ball bounces, rolls, and runs toward the ocean. WGT’s surface physics handle this better here than on some of the parkland courses in the library because the fescue turf is modeled as fast-running.

What You Miss

The rest of the resort. Pacific Dunes is the consensus favorite among Bandon regulars. Bandon Trails offers a different forest-and-dunes experience. Old Macdonald rewards creativity. The Preserve is a quick par-3 round. WGT has none of these.

If you are a Bandon superfan who wants to play all five courses, WGT is not the platform. You need Trackman or GSPro for that. But if you just want to play the original Bandon Dunes — the course that started it all — WGT’s version is good enough to scratch the itch.

The Hole Worth Playing For

The 4th hole at Bandon Dunes runs along the cliff edge with the Pacific Ocean on the left. On WGT, this hole is the highlight of the round. The tee shot plays toward the ocean with a fairway that slopes toward the water. The approach shot is to a green that sits above the coastline.

WGT’s version captures the view and the challenge. The wind matters. The carry matters. The green is small and demanding. If you only play one hole at Bandon on WGT, play this one.

The Bottom Line

Bandon Dunes on WGT is a single-course experience. One course from a five-course resort. The original is excellent, the 4th hole is a highlight, and the wind and firm conditions make every round different. But if you want the full Bandon resort experience, you need a different platform.

For $10 a month, WGT’s Bandon Dunes is worth playing. Just do not expect the full resort.
