Can You Play Oakmont on TruGolf Apogee? Here’s How

Oakmont is the meanest golf course in America. The Church Pews bunker. The greens that run at U.S. Open speeds. The 200-plus sand traps that punish every errant shot. On the TruGolf Apogee, Oakmont is accessed through the E6 Connect ecosystem, and it is a premium experience at a premium price.

How to Access Oakmont on the Apogee

The Apogee only works with E6 Connect. This is the single most important fact about the Apogee platform — you cannot play GSPro, you cannot play TGC 2019, and you cannot play any open-source courses. You are in the E6 ecosystem.

Oakmont is a premium add-on within E6’s library. You need the E6 Connect Course Library upgrade ($1,000 one-time) to access the full course roster. Oakmont is an additional $25 premium add-on within that library.

Total cost to play Oakmont on your Apogee: $1,025 on top of the $4,995 Apogee hardware.

I am not going to pretend that is reasonable. It is not reasonable. But if you already own an Apogee and want to play Oakmont, this is the only way.

How Oakmont Plays on E6 Through the Apogee

The Church Pews bunker is the defining hazard. E6’s version of Oakmont models the Church Pews as parallel grass ridges in a sand pit spanning 100 yards. The hazard is one of the most famous features in American golf. E6’s rendering captures the visual — you can see the ridges from the tee of the 3rd and 4th holes. The penalty for finding it is severe. E6’s bunker physics treat it as a deep bunker with fescue between the ridges, and recovery is difficult.

The greens are the main test. Oakmont’s greens are the fastest in championship golf. On E6 Connect, you can set the green speed to tournament conditions. A 10-foot putt from above the hole becomes a survival exercise. The Apogee’s overhead tracking feeds club data into E6’s putting physics, which means the speed and break calculations are based on your actual stroke mechanics.

The 200-plus bunkers are all present. Oakmont has more bunkers than any other course in the E6 library. E6’s hazard modeling is adequate — the bunkers are visually represented, the sand physics are standard E6, and the penalties for finding them are consistent.

The Apogee Advantage

The voice commands are the Apogee’s killer feature for Oakmont. Say “Load Oakmont Country Club,” “Set green speed to tournament,” “Set conditions to firm.” The course loads with U.S. Open conditions without touching a menu. For a course like Oakmont where conditions define the experience, this convenience matters.

The overhead tracking at 14,000 fps captures the club data that makes Oakmont’s penalty shots feel real. When you catch a shot heavy from the rough, the Apogee’s strike detection feeds that data to E6, and the ball flight reflects it. The Church Pews bunker shot that comes out low and runs through the green is the result of accurate data capture.

The Cost Reality

Oakmont on the Apogee costs more than any other platform. On GSPro, Oakmont is a community build available to SGT subscribers for $15 a month. On Trackman, Oakmont is in the standard library. On Awesome Golf, Oakmont is included with the $199 annual subscription.

The Apogee is for people who prioritize ease of use over cost and course selection. If you want the easiest overhead setup experience with voice-command convenience, the Apogee delivers. If you want Oakmont on the cheapest platform with the most course options, the Apogee is the wrong choice.

If you already own an Apogee, add Oakmont. It is one of the best premium courses in the E6 library. If you are choosing between platforms and Oakmont matters to you, look at Trackman or GSPro first.
