How It Plays

The 17th hole is the highlight. A 220-yard par 3 from the tips with the lake on the right and a massive dune in the background. The green is protected by bunkers. The wind is in your face. On GOLFZON, this is one of the best single holes in the library.

The bunkers are the other headline. With over 1,000 of them, you are never more than a few yards from sand. GOLFZON’s bunker physics are punishing. The pot bunkers are deep enough that you cannot see the green. The fairway bunkers catch drives that are one yard offline. The greenside bunkers are steep and deep.

The wind matters at Whistling Straits because the lake generates constant wind. GOLFZON’s wind model handles this well. The 10th hole along the lake plays differently based on wind direction. The 18th hole approach is affected by the wind coming off the water.

How to Access It

Buy a WAVE launch monitor. Connect to the GOLFZON software on Windows. Subscribe to the paid tier. Search “Whistling Straits” in the course library.

Load it from the championship tees. Set wind to 15 mph minimum. Set conditions to firm and fast. You will find at least one bunker. Probably more.

How It Compares

FSX Play’s version is the best-looking version on any platform. The 4K LIDAR data and water rendering are superior. Trackman’s version is the most physically accurate.

GOLFZON’s version is officially licensed and plays correctly. The bunkers are everywhere. The wind matters. The 17th hole is worth the subscription price.
