Can You Play Bandon Dunes on GOLFZON Wave? Here’s How
GOLFZON licensed Bandon Dunes years before their recent USGA and Troon partnerships. The course has been in GOLFZON’s commercial library for a while, deployed across their 500+ venue network in Asia. The WAVE brings it to the home market for the first time.
Bandon Dunes on GOLFZON plays with the fescue rough, the ocean views, and the firm conditions that make the Oregon coast course so distinctive. The wind modeling is particularly good — GOLFZON’s commercial sims need to create compelling conditions for hourly rental customers, and the wind at Bandon is a major part of the experience.
How It Plays
The 4th hole along the cliff edge is the highlight. The tee shot plays toward the ocean with a fairway that slopes toward the water. On GOLFZON, the wind is a major factor — the direction determines whether the ball rides the slope or fights it.
The fescue rough is punishing. GOLFZON’s physics engine treats the long grass as a variable penalty. A ball sitting down in the fescue produces less spin and lower trajectory. A ball sitting up is more predictable but still penalized compared to a fairway lie.
The greens are firm and fast. Bandon Dunes plays firm by default, and GOLFZON’s surface physics handle the release correctly. Bump-and-run shots are viable. Approach shots release instead of stopping dead.
How to Access It
Buy a WAVE launch monitor. Connect to the GOLFZON software on Windows. Subscribe to the paid tier. Search “Bandon Dunes” in the course library.
Note that GOLFZON has the original Bandon Dunes course only — not Pacific Dunes, Bandon Trails, Old Macdonald, or the Preserve. If you want the full resort, Trackman is the only platform that has all five.
The Bottom Line
Bandon Dunes on GOLFZON is a solid version of the course that started the Bandon resort. The wind modeling, fescue rough, and firm conditions all translate well. The 4th hole is worth the price of admission.
If you own a WAVE, this is a must-play course. If you are considering a WAVE and Bandon Dunes is important to you, GOLFZON’s version is good enough to justify the purchase.
