Yes, Pinehurst No. 2 is available on GOLF+ VR. It is one of the most popular licensed courses on the platform, available as DLC or through the GOLF+ Pass. The VR version captures the wide fairways, crowned greens, and waste areas that define Donald Ross’s masterpiece.

Pinehurst No. 2 is ranked No. 3 in our course database. It is the defining American inland course and the site of multiple U.S. Opens. In VR, it translates surprisingly well because the course is about positional strategy, not raw power.

Course Quality Assessment

The GOLF+ team recreated Pinehurst No. 2 with solid fidelity. The crowned greens are the signature feature of the course, and they are accurately modeled. In VR, you can walk up to the green surface and see the subtle slopes that shed balls into collection areas. That visual understanding is the single biggest reason to play this in VR over a screen-based sim.

The waste areas — the sandy, wiregrass-covered zones that replaced rough in the 2014 renovation — are visually striking in VR. They are not just flat brown patches. You can see the texture, the elevation changes, and the penalty for missing the fairway by more than a few yards.

The 5th hole, the long par-4 with the turtleback green, is the best hole on the course in VR. The approach shot requires pin-point accuracy because anything not on the green runs off into a swale. In VR, you can see exactly where the green rejects shots. You will still hit the wrong spot, but you will understand why you did it.

The short par-4s (the 1st, the 7th, the 13th) play perfectly in VR because the decision-making is visual. Should I lay up to a specific number or try to drive it close? In VR, you can see the danger. You will make smarter decisions.

How to Access

Individual DLC ($10-12): Purchase Pinehurst No. 2 standalone.

GOLF+ Pass ($9.99/month): Full access including Pinehurst No. 2 plus other Pinehurst courses on the platform (Pinehurst No. 10 and The Cradle are also available).

Pinehurst is one of the few platforms that gives you multiple courses from the same resort. The Cradle, the par-3 short course, is a separate DLC and worth adding if you want a quick, fun round.

The VR Advantage on Pinehurst

Pinehurst No. 2 is a second-shot course. The greens are everything. In traditional screen-based sims, judging the slope of a crowned green from a 2D display is guesswork. In VR, you can read the green by walking around it. You can crouch down and see the contours from putting level.

That alone makes the GOLF+ version worth owning. It will not make you a better putter on real greens — the controller-based putting is different. But it will teach you where to leave your approach shots.
