Congressional Country Club is available on GSPro. The LIDAR community build of the Blue Course captures the layout that Rory McIlroy destroyed in 2011 — the 16-under-par performance that announced the modern power era — and the same track that hosted Tiger Woods at the AT&T National.

Congressional is a big, modern course on rolling Maryland terrain. The Blue Course was designed by Devereux Emmet and later renovated by Rees Jones, and the result is a championship layout that demands length off the tee and precision into greens. The fairways are generous, but the rough is penal, and the greens are large and undulating.

Quality Assessment

The GSPro LIDAR build of Congressional Blue Course is one of the higher-quality community conversions. The terrain has genuine elevation change — the course sits on a hillside overlooking the Potomac — and the LIDAR captures the downhill drives and uphill approaches accurately.

The signature holes translate well. The sixth hole, the 222-yard par-3 over water with a forced carry to a two-tiered green, is a genuine test in GSPro physics. The 17th, a 488-yard par-4 with water guarding the right side of the green, demands a second shot that has to carry the hazard. The 18th, the 524-yard par-4 with water all the way down the left side, is one of the most demanding finishing holes in American golf.

The visual quality is standard LIDAR community grade. Congressional is a tree-lined course with a classic parkland feel, and the generic tree placement does not capture the cathedral-like character of the real thing. But the bones are right, and the playability is excellent.
