GOLF+ VR

Golf+ VR on Meta Quest offers 40 real courses and 2M players for $99/year — but controller tracking isn't a launch monitor. When it works and when it doesn't.

GOLF+ VR in action

GOLF+ VR is the most legitimate virtual golf experience on the market, backed by the PGA TOUR, the PGA of America, and The R&A. 40+ real courses, 150K monthly players, and deep VR immersion that no screen-based sim can match. But it is NOT a golf simulator. The motion controller tracking is directionally useful for tempo and face awareness but nowhere near the accuracy of a photometric or Doppler launch monitor. If you already own a Meta Quest headset and want to play Pebble Beach from your couch, buy it. If you want actual ball data and club data to lower your handicap, spend the money on a real launch monitor and GSPro. Also worth watching: GOLF+ Sim (late 2026) will connect real launch monitors to the Quest for mixed reality putting — the first platform to solve simulator putting.

What We Love

  • +40+ licensed real courses including Pebble Beach, St Andrews, TPC Sawgrass, and Royal Birkdale — play championship venues from your living room
  • +2 million players, 150K monthly active, 4.8 stars on 52K reviews — largest social VR golf community on earth
  • +Immersive VR depth perception: full stereoscopic 3D on every tee box and green that no screen-based sim can match
  • +Official PGA TOUR, PGA of America, and R&A partner — The Open Championship is now a VR event with a VIP trip to St Andrews as the prize
  • +Upcoming GOLF+ Sim (late 2026) will bring real launch monitor compatibility with mixed reality putting — the first real solution to simulator putting

What Sucks

  • NOT a launch monitor simulator — motion controller tracking gives directionally useful swing data, not the accuracy of photometric or Doppler systems
  • Requires a Meta Quest headset ($299+) — if you don't already own one, that's the full entry cost before the game and subscription
  • Controller swing doesn't replicate real club feel — short, lightweight, no compression feedback, no mishit twisting
  • Course DLC costs add up fast: $6-10 per course beyond the base game's 3-5 included venues, and a full library can cost $200+
  • Full swing tracking can glitch when the controller leaves the headset's camera view on long backswings
