Where is Five Iron Golf opening in Abu Dhabi?

Five Iron Golf is opening a nearly 30,000-square-foot location at Yas Bay Waterfront on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The venue will feature 12 Trackman-powered golf simulators, a 12,000-square-foot waterfront terrace, multiple bars, private event spaces, and commissioned art from six UAE-based artists. Expected opening is mid-August 2026. Founding memberships are currently available.

Five Iron Golf Keeps Pushing the Map

Five Iron Golf announced it will open its first UAE location at Yas Bay Waterfront on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The company, which now operates in 20 states and 7 countries, is bringing its full package to the Middle East.

The venue is nearly 30,000 square feet with 12 Trackman simulators, a 12,000-square-foot waterfront terrace overlooking Yas Bay, bars, private event spaces, and lawn games. It’s designed as an all-day destination — practice and lessons during the day, leagues and social events at night, private events and corporate bookings in between.

The target opening is mid-August. Founding memberships are being sold now with limited availability.

Why This Matters

Five Iron Golf has been on an expansion tear that most indoor golf operators can only dream about. The company has opened locations across North America, expanded into the UK, and now has a foothold in the Middle East. The Abu Dhabi location is its second in the region — the company already has a Riyadh venue through a partnership with Golf Saudi.

The pace is staggering. Five Iron opened its first location in 2017. Nine years later, it’s operating in 7 countries with a portfolio that includes both company-owned and partnership locations. The company’s investors — Coral Tree Partners, North Castle Partners, Callaway Golf, and Danny Meyer’s Enlightened Hospitality Investments — have clearly signaled they believe this model scales globally.

The Yas Bay location is a flex. The venue sits on one of the most expensive real estate developments in the Middle East, alongside Yas Marina Circuit, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Etihad Arena, and the soon-to-open Sphere Abu Dhabi. The Yas Bay venue sits on some of the most expensive real estate in the Middle East. This is a flagship destination built to compete with nightlife and entertainment — and other golf facilities are secondary to that.

What’s Actually Inside

The simulators are Trackman-powered, which is the standard for Five Iron’s premium locations. The company has standardized on Trackman across its fleet, which means consistent data and gameplay whether you’re hitting balls in New York or Abu Dhabi.

The 12,000-square-foot terrace is the headline feature. Waterfront access, lawn games, a terrace bar — it’s clearly designed to pull in the non-golfer crowd that Five Iron has built its business model around. The company has always said that 70% of its revenue comes from non-golf activities (food, beverage, events, entertainment). The terrace is a physical manifestation of that strategy.

The commissioned art is worth mentioning. Five Iron worked with six UAE-based artists — Rabab Tantawy, Anna Tangles, Kav Ahangar, Ibrahim Zaki, Fink 22, and Sneak Hotep — to create installations that span Formula 1-inspired design, Arabic calligraphy, geometric installations, and contemporary street art. It’s a local touch that most chain operators skip. Five Iron has been doing this at every new location, and it’s one of the reasons the venues feel distinct rather than cookie-cutter.

What This Means for the Industry

The indoor golf facility boom is real, and Five Iron Golf is the proof of concept. The company has proven that indoor golf can scale beyond the “golf bar” model into something that competes with mainstream entertainment. A 30,000-square-foot venue on Yas Island with a waterfront terrace and commissioned art is not a golf facility. It’s an entertainment venue that happens to have golf simulators in it.

For Trackman, this is another validation of their position as the premium simulator choice for high-end facilities. Five Iron could have chosen any simulator provider. They chose Trackman for every location. That’s a signal to the market about which brand the big operators trust for the guest experience.

For the consumer, the takeaway is simple: indoor golf is becoming a global entertainment category, not a niche hobby. Five Iron’s Abu Dhabi opening is the latest evidence that simulators are moving out of garages and into prime real estate.
