**Can you play Torrey Pines South on FSX Play?** Yes — Torrey Pines South Course is available on FSX Play as a single-course purchase ($40-60). Officially licensed, LIDAR-scanned in 4K, with the famous cliffside par 3s and the full 7,800-yard U.S. Open layout. Requires an FSX Play software license and a Foresight launch monitor.

Can You Play Torrey Pines South on FSX Play? Here’s How

Torrey Pines South is a municipal golf course that looks like a U.S. Open venue. On FSX Play, it looks like a U.S. Open venue too.

The FSX Play version is the best-looking sim version of Torrey Pines available on any platform. The cliffside setting, the Pacific Ocean views, the Torrey Pines trees — all of it is rendered in 4K LIDAR quality. The 3rd hole, a 140-yard par 3 that plays directly toward the ocean, is one of the most visually stunning single holes in the entire FSX Play library.

Why FSX Play’s Torrey Pines Stands Out

The ocean views are the headline. FSX Play’s water engine makes the Pacific Ocean look like the Pacific Ocean instead of a blue gradient. The waves, the reflections, the depth — it is all there. The 3rd hole with the ocean behind the green is a screenshot waiting to happen.

The Torrey Pines trees are the other visual signature. These are the bent, twisted trees that grow on the cliffs of Southern California. They look like nothing else in golf. FSX Play’s 4K textures capture the gnarled bark and wind-sculpted shapes that make these trees so distinctive.

The length is accurately rendered. Torrey Pines South is 7,800 yards from the tips. On FSX Play, the fairways are generous enough that you can hit driver on most holes. The challenge is the approach shots. They are long, the greens are firm, and the wind off the ocean affects every shot. FSX Play’s LIDAR data makes sure you feel every yard.

How to Access It

Buy Torrey Pines South from the Foresight online store. $40-60. Receive a license key. Activate it in FSX Play. Download and play.

Set conditions to firm and tournament wind. The course is long enough already — firm conditions make it a major championship test.

The Holes That Define the Round

The 3rd: The iconic par 3 over the Pacific. On FSX Play, this hole is perfect. The green is raised. The ocean is behind it. The wind is in your face. Hit a wedge, hold your breath, and watch the ball ride the wind toward the green. This is the best single hole at Torrey Pines on any sim platform.

The 12th: The par 3 across the canyon. A 180-yard carry over rough terrain to a green surrounded by bunkers. On FSX Play, the canyon depth is captured in the LIDAR data. You will feel the nerves.

The 18th: The finisher where Jon Rahm made history. A 570-yard par 5 with the fairway sloping right to left. On FSX Play, the second shot is the decision point. Go for it in two or lay up. The ocean is in the background. The clubhouse is visible. It looks exactly like the TV coverage you have watched for years.

The Cost Question

Torrey Pines South on FSX Play costs $40-60. GSPro costs $250/year and includes a community version that is excellent.

If you already own a Foresight system, Torrey Pines South is a strong addition. The 3rd hole alone is worth the price. If you are deciding between platforms, GSPro is the better value but FSX Play’s version looks noticeably better.
