Yes, you can play Taiheiyo Gotemba on GSPro. The Pacific Golf Management crown jewel at the base of Mount Fuji is available as a free community build, and it is one of the most visually distinctive courses in the entire GSPro library.

Taiheiyo Gotemba ranks 76th globally. The course is a Shunsuke Kato design that opened in 1977, and it operates on a logic that feels foreign to most American sim golfers: hit the ball where the course tells you to hit it, not where your ego wants to. The fairways are wide enough off the tee but the angles into the greens are everything. Miss on the wrong side and par becomes a distant memory.

Quality Assessment

The GSPro community build handles the Fuji backdrop about as well as any LiDAR conversion can. The mountain is visible from most of the course, and the builder used aerial reference to match tree lines and bunker placements accurately. The par-3s are the headline act. The 7th, 11th, and 16th are all gorgeous one-shot holes that play over water or ravines with the mountain in the frame. In the sim, the 16th plays just as intimidating as it does in real life.

The greens are the real challenge. Gotemba has some of the most complex green complexes of any Asian course on GSPro. Multi-tiered, heavily contoured, with false fronts that reject anything short. The course requires approach shot precision that most resort courses do not demand. The community build captures the slopes well, and you will three-putt more here than you do on your home course. That is the course, not the sim.

The major limitation is the rough. The real Gotemba has thick, penal rough in the bamboo-lined areas. The GSPro version uses standard rough settings that underrepresent the penalty. Turn up the rough penalty in your settings or play the tips if you want the full experience.

How to Access

Search for “Taiheiyo Gotemba” or “Gotemba” in the GSPro course database. It is a free community course available to all subscribers. Download it through the GSPro course manager and it is ready to play.

Why Play It

Taiheiyo Gotemba belongs in your rotation because it plays different from the western courses on GSPro. The strategic demands are subtler. The course does not punish bad drives with OB and hazards the way a US Open rota course does. It punishes bad decisions. The correct play off the tee is often a fairway wood or long iron that leaves the right angle into the green. If you try to overpower the course, you will end up in jail. Play it three times before you judge it. The course reveals itself slowly.

Frequently Asked Questions

How realistic is this course on GSPro?

The LIDAR recreation captures real elevation data, green contours, and hole routing. The accuracy depends on the quality of the course’s original LIDAR scan, but GSPro’s community designers consistently produce playable, faithful versions of popular courses.

What launch monitor pairs best with GSPro for this course?

Any GSPro-compatible launch monitor works — Uneekor, SkyTrak, FlightScope Mevo+, and Bushnell Launch Pro are the most common pairings. The launch monitor affects shot capture, not visual quality, so course fidelity is identical regardless of your LM.

Is this course available on other sim platforms?

Check the platform comparison section above for availability on E6 Connect, TGC 2019, FSX Play, Awesome Golf, and other sim software platforms.

Verdict

This course is a strong addition to your GSPro rotation. The LIDAR data provides an authentic playing experience that captures the real course’s character — the elevation changes, green contours, and strategic demands that make it memorable. Download it, dial in the settings, and see how it plays in your sim.
