Lahinch on GSPro is the most eccentric round of golf you can play in simulation. The County Clare links ranks 58th on the Golf Digest World Top 100, and it is the course that golf pilgrims visit for the same reason they visit the Cliffs of Moher: it is bizarre, beautiful, and unlike anything else in the British Isles.

The GSPro community build captures the quirks that make Lahinch famous. This is not a course for the purist who wants every shot visible from the tee. This is a course for the player who loves blind approaches, hidden greens, and holes that make no sense until you have played them three times.

The Lahinch Experience

Lahinch was originally laid out by Old Tom Morris in 1894 and later redesigned by Alister Mackenzie in 1926. The result is a links course that combines the best of both eras: Old Tom’s fearless routing over the dunes and Mackenzie’s strategic green complexes.

The GSPro LiDAR build captures the two most famous holes in Irish golf. The 4th hole, known as “Klondyke,” is a 530-yard par 5 that plays over a massive dune ridge. The tee shot is completely blind — you hit toward a marker pole on the skyline, and the fairway is hidden on the other side. The second shot is also blind. In GSPro, the Klondyke translates perfectly because the elevation data shows the ridge, and the blind carry is exactly as intimidating as the real thing.

The 5th hole, known as “The Dell,” is a 150-yard par 3 that plays to a green hidden in a natural amphitheater formed by two dune ridges. The green is visible from the tee only through a narrow gap in the dunes. The GSPro version preserves the blind approach, and the green contour data shows the severe back-to-front slope that makes the Dell one of the hardest par 3s in Ireland.

The closing stretch at Lahinch is classic Mackenzie. The 13th through 18th holes play along the coast with the Atlantic Ocean on your left, and the green complexes are the most strategic on the course. The 18th, a 460-yard par 4 that plays back toward the clubhouse, is a proper finishing hole.

Quality Assessment

The LiDAR data for Lahinch is solid, particularly for the dune ridges and the green complexes. The blind holes — Klondyke and the Dell — are the most important features to get right, and the GSPro version handles them correctly.

The green complexes at Lahinch are Mackenzie-designed, which means they are strategic, sloped, and protected by bunkers that collect approaches from the wrong angle. The 11th green, which sits on a natural shelf with the ocean behind it, is the best example. Approach shots from the left funnel toward the pin. Approach shots from the right feed off into a bunker.

The one weakness of the GSPro version is the visual treatment of the dunes. Lahinch has some of the most dramatic dune topography in Ireland, and the simplified textures cannot fully capture the scale. The playability, however, is excellent.

Why Lahinch Belongs in Your GSPro Rotation

Lahinch is the course you play when you want to be surprised. The blind shots, the hidden greens, the Klondyke, the Dell — these are features that most modern golf courses have eliminated in favor of visibility and fairness. Lahinch embraces them, and the GSPro version preserves the joy of that eccentricity.

If you have played the Open rota courses and want something that feels fundamentally different, Lahinch is the answer. It is the most unique course in the Irish links collection in GSPro.

FAQ

Is Lahinch available on GSPro?

Yes. Lahinch Golf Club in County Clare, Ireland is available as a free community-built course on the GSPro course server.

How realistic is Lahinch on GSPro?

The LiDAR data captures the dune ridges and blind-hole topography accurately. The Klondyke (4th) and Dell (5th) are faithfully reproduced. Green contours reflect the Mackenzie design. Visual textures are simplified but playability is high.

What is the Klondyke hole in GSPro?

The 4th hole is a blind par 5 over a massive dune ridge. The tee shot is directed at a marker pole. The second shot is also blind. The GSPro version captures the same guesswork. Play it once to learn the line. Play it again to score.

What is the Dell hole in GSPro?

The 5th hole is a blind par 3 to a green hidden in a dune amphitheater. The green is visible only through a narrow gap. The GSPro version preserves the blind approach and the severe back-to-front green slope.

Can I play Lahinch on other simulator software?

Lahinch is primarily available on GSPro. It is not currently available on E6 Connect, FSX Play, or Trackman Performance.

What wind setting should I use for Lahinch?

Set wind to Medium-High. Lahinch sits on the Atlantic coast and the wind affects the blind holes significantly. The Klondyke plays completely differently in a crosswind versus downwind.

How do I download Lahinch on GSPro?

Open the GSPro course server, search “Lahinch,” and click download. It appears under L in your course library. No additional subscription required.
