Bethpage Black on GSPro vs E6 vs TGC 2019: Which Version Is Best?

Bethpage Black is different from other famous courses. It’s not a private club. It’s a public golf course that the state of New York runs like a boot camp. The warning sign on the first tee tells you to go home. The rough is deep enough to lose a small dog. The elevation changes make you question your fitness.

It’s the everyman’s major championship venue, and that makes it one of the most played courses in sim golf.

Which Platforms Have It

GSPro: Yes. The best version is by BigFudge — search “Bethpage Black” in Course Manager. Free with $250/year GSPro subscription.

E6 Connect: Yes. Officially licensed, included in the Expanded ($600/year) tier. No extra cost beyond the subscription.

TGC 2019: Yes. Community-built, included in the base game.

Graphics Comparison

E6 Connect (8/10): E6’s Bethpage Black looks excellent. The contrast between the dark green fairways, the deep rough, and the brown waste areas is striking. The famous black-and-yellow warning sign on the first tee is rendered. The trees lining the fairways have volume. The elevation changes are visually dramatic — the drop on the 1st hole, the climb on the 10th, the uphill march on the 15th.

GSPro (8/10): BigFudge’s version is one of the best community builds on the platform. The LIDAR elevation data is accurate. The rough looks appropriately punishing. The visual quality is close to E6’s, especially on a good gaming PC. The lighting isn’t quite as refined, but the gap is small.

TGC 2019 (5/10): TGC’s Bethpage is recognizable but dated. The rough doesn’t look as deep. The elevation changes are less dramatic. The trees are simpler. It’s playable. It’s not impressive.

Winner: Tie (E6/GSPro) — both look great. E6 has a slight edge on polish. GSPro’s version is very close.

Course Accuracy

E6 Connect (9/10): Officially licensed means everything is exactly where it should be. The elevation changes are exact — the 1st hole’s drop, the 10th hole’s climb, the 15th’s uphill grind. The bunkers are the right shape and depth. The greens have the correct contours. Bethpage’s greens tilt severely, and E6 captures that.

GSPro (8/10): BigFudge’s version is LIDAR-based, so the elevation data is real. The routing is correct. The bunker placements are accurate. The rough penalty is arguably more realistic than E6’s — GSPro’s rough is harder to escape, which matches the real Bethpage experience. The greens are very close to accurate but not quite as nuanced as the E6 version.

TGC 2019 (6/10): Routing is correct. Elevation is approximated. Greens are simplified. Bethpage’s famous tilted greens lose their character in TGC.

Playability: Both E6 and GSPro handle Bethpage’s defining features well — the length, the rough, the elevation. E6 has slightly better green physics. GSPro has slightly better rough penalty. Both are excellent.

Winner: E6 Connect — the license gives it the edge on accuracy, but GSPro’s version is close enough that most players won’t notice the difference.

Cost

GSPro: $250/year. Bethpage included.

E6 Connect: $300-600/year. Bethpage included in Expanded ($600) tier. Not available in Basic ($300) tier.

TGC 2019: $20-30 one-time. Bethpage included.

The Verdict

Category GSPro E6 Connect TGC 2019
Graphics 8/10 8/10 5/10
Course Accuracy 8/10 9/10 6/10
Playability 8/10 8/10 6/10
Cost $250/yr $600/yr (Expanded) $20-30
Overall 8.7/10 8.8/10 5.5/10

Bethpage Black is the rare course where E6 and GSPro are nearly equal. E6 has the edge on accuracy. GSPro has the edge on rough penalty. Both deliver an excellent Bethpage experience.

My pick: GSPro. Bethpage is included in the base subscription, and BigFudge’s version is excellent. The $350/year savings vs E6 Expanded makes it an easy call.
